What is the Bet365 Authenticator?
The Bet365 Authenticator is a geolocation verification app that confirms you are physically located in Spain when placing bets on bet365.es through a web browser.
Spanish gambling regulations (DGOJ) require operators to verify that users are betting from within Spain. The Authenticator uses your phone's GPS and other location data to confirm your location before allowing you to place bets.
You NEED the Authenticator if:
- • Betting on bet365.es via web browser (PC)
- • Betting on bet365.es via mobile browser
- • You cleared cookies or use incognito mode
You DON'T need it if:
- • Using the official Bet365 app (iOS/Android)
- • Geolocation is already built into the app
How to Set Up Bet365 Authenticator
Step 1: Download the App
📱 iOS (iPhone/iPad)
- 1. Open the App Store
- 2. Search "Bet365 Authenticator"
- 3. Tap Download
🤖 Android
- 1. Open Google Play Store
- 2. Search "Bet365 Authenticator"
- 3. Tap Install
Can't find it? Visit bet365authenticator.com on your mobile browser and follow the instructions there.
Step 2: Enable Permissions
The app needs Location and Camera permissions to work properly.
Location Permission
Required to verify you're in Spain. Set to "Always" or "While Using the App".
iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Bet365 Authenticator → While Using
Camera Permission
Required to scan the QR code displayed on your computer or browser.
iOS: Settings → Bet365 Authenticator → Camera → ON
Step 3: Place a Bet
Log in to bet365.es
Open your browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, etc.) and go to bet365.es. Log in with your account.
Add selections to your betslip
Choose your bets as normal. When you try to place the bet, you'll see a QR code.
Open the Authenticator app
On your phone, open the Bet365 Authenticator app. The camera will activate automatically.
Scan the QR code
Point your phone at the QR code on screen. Once scanned, the app verifies your location.
Verification complete
A white tick appears confirming verification. Your bet is placed automatically in the browser.
Troubleshooting Common Problems
"Developer Options Detected" Error
The app detects if Developer Options are enabled on your Android device. This is a security measure to prevent location spoofing.
✅ Solution:
- 1. Go to Settings → System → Developer Options
- 2. Toggle Developer Options OFF
- 3. Restart your phone
- 4. Try the Authenticator again
Note: If you can't find Developer Options, they may already be hidden. The option only appears after tapping "Build Number" 7 times in About Phone.
Black Screen When Opening App
The app shows a black screen and won't load properly. This can be caused by permission issues, outdated app version, or device compatibility.
✅ Solutions (try in order):
- 1. Force close the app and reopen it
- 2. Restart your phone
- 3. Check Location and Camera permissions are enabled
- 4. Update the app to the latest version
- 5. Uninstall and reinstall the app
- 6. Try on a different device
QR Code Won't Scan
The camera opens but won't recognize or scan the QR code on your screen.
✅ Solutions:
- 1. Clean your camera lens — smudges can prevent scanning
- 2. Increase screen brightness on your computer/phone
- 3. Hold the phone steady and at the right distance (15-30cm)
- 4. Avoid glare — adjust your screen angle or room lighting
- 5. If using a curved monitor — these are NOT compatible. Try a flat screen or your phone
- 6. Refresh the QR code on the bet365 page
⚠️ Important: Curved monitors are officially NOT compatible with the Bet365 Authenticator. Use a flat monitor or scan from your phone's browser instead.
Camera Not Activating
The app opens but the camera doesn't activate — you see a blank or frozen screen.
✅ Solutions:
- 1. Check Camera permissions are enabled for the app
- 2. Close other apps that might be using the camera
- 3. Force close the Authenticator and reopen
- 4. Restart your phone
- 5. On iOS: Settings → Privacy → Camera → enable for Bet365 Authenticator
- 6. On Android: Settings → Apps → Bet365 Authenticator → Permissions → Camera
Location Verification Failed
The app scans the QR code but fails to verify your location, or says you're outside the allowed area.
✅ Solutions:
- 1. Ensure Location permissions are set to "Always" or "While Using"
- 2. Turn on GPS/Location Services on your device
- 3. Go outdoors or near a window for better GPS signal
- 4. Disable WiFi temporarily to force GPS-only location
- 5. Check you're connected to mobile data (not just WiFi)
- 6. Ensure you are actually in Spain — the app verifies physical location
⚠️ Note: The Authenticator requires you to be physically in Spain. VPNs do not work — the app uses GPS and network data, not just IP address.
App Freezes or Crashes
The app freezes mid-process or crashes unexpectedly.
✅ Solutions:
- 1. Clear app cache (Android: Settings → Apps → Bet365 Authenticator → Storage → Clear Cache)
- 2. Ensure you have a stable internet connection
- 3. Update the app to the latest version
- 4. Free up phone memory — close background apps
- 5. Uninstall and reinstall the app
- 6. Try on a different device
Asked to Scan QR Code Every Time
You're being asked to verify with the Authenticator for every single bet, instead of occasionally.
✅ Solutions:
- 1. Don't use incognito/private mode — it clears cookies each session
- 2. Allow cookies for bet365.es in your browser
- 3. Don't clear cookies after each session
- 4. Use the same browser consistently
- 5. Consider using the Bet365 app instead — no Authenticator needed
